with Microorganisms

 

人と微生物がコラボレーションする事で生まれる照明です。人が成形したプロダクトを土に埋め、微生物が分解する事で完成します。生分解性プラスチックの成形品を微生物が分解することによって現れる痕跡をテクスチャーとして捉えました。人の手によって作りきらず、微生物という変数を掛け合わせることによって、プロダクトに偶発性や唯一性を与える試みであり、「分解」して「作る」という逆説的な創造過程への試みでもあります。

 

This is a lampshade created by collaboration of humans and microorganisms.The lampshade made of biodegradable plastic.Buried in the soil for a while, the lampshade acquires a certain texture because of decomposition by microorganisms.Its texture is not controlled perfectly.It depends on how long it is buried and how much the microorganisms exist in the soil.The texture is random.So, there is an area where human intention does not intervene in the finish of this lamp shade.“Applying the work of decomposition to the pro duct’s texture”.This is our new idea about creat ing products.The item is unique, and it g ives consumers the value that the item is v ery original.
